The launch of the GEF-7 Inclusive Conservation Initiative (ICI) took place on 09 December, 2022 at CBD COP 15 in the GEF Pavilion. The new model offers increased direct financing to Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities (IPs and LCs) in order to deliver multiple global environmental benefits and support related cultural and economic development initiatives.

Watch the video – produced by IISD – to hear remarks from the GEF, the GEF Indigenous Peoples Advisory Group (IPAG), IUCN and Conservation International and to meet the representatives from some of the subprojects, including IMPACT Kenya, Futa Mawiza and IMPECT.

The Inclusive Conservation Initiative (ICI) is funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and co-implemented by Conservation International (CI) and IUCN.
