When land becomes degraded and water is scarce, women are often the worst affected.

This World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought, celebrated under the theme Her Land. Her Rights, Paine Makko – Director Ujamaa Community Resource Team (UCRT) – reflects on the important roles played by women in her Maasai community and on their vulnerability to drought.
